KECI News Channel was founded and its first-ever broadcast was carried in 1954 under the brand name of KGVO. It is possessed by Montana Broadcasting in accordance with KGVO radio. Initially, it was an authorized CBS network but also touched and carried some of the secondary programmings of ACB and DuMont network.

It changed the call name to KMSO-TV and also switched the location of its work offices and transmission hub to West Avenue in downtown the city.
